A cordless drill with its battery clipped in weighs about 1.2 kilograms on average — 1208 grams exactly, for a mid-size 18V/20V drill weighed whole on our bench. The battery is doing more of that weight than it looks like it should.
A compact 12V drill built for one-handed work carries a smaller battery and comes in well under a kilogram; a heavy-duty drill with a large-capacity pack for long jobs can push toward two kilograms. Across that range, the battery typically accounts for a third to two-fifths of the total — pull it out and the bare tool is noticeably lighter, which is also why a drill feels front-heavy with the battery removed and back-heavy with it attached.
